Chipstead Dragon Boat Festival 2016

Chipstead Sailing Club are, once again, holding their Dragon Boat Festival on the August Bank Holiday Monday.  They are looking for teams of 13-17 people to race the Dragon Boats.  Each team races in 3 heats, followed by the semi-finals and the final race.

The boats are 40ft long and seat a maximum of 16 paddlers, plus a drummer (to beat out the rhythm).  The cost of entering a team is £375 (so approx. £22 per person for a team of 17) and the money raised will go to the Cheshire Home and Wealden Sailability.

BGBC would love to put together a team (the minister’s already volunteered).  No previous experience required as all necessary instruction is given on the day, but you do need to be able to swim 50m with a buoyancy aid (will be provided on the day) and be prepared to sign a waiver regarding your general fitness and participating in aerobic activity.
