We will be marking BGBC’s ongoing commitment as a Fairtrade Church on Sunday 2nd March when along with the Traidcraft stall in the hall after the service we will also be selling delicious homemade cakes containing Fairtrade ingredients and using recipes from the new Traidcraft recipe book “Bake a Difference”.
The money raised will go to Traidcraft Exchange to continue improving the lives of millions of families in Africa and Asia. Alongside support in building sustainable and diversified businesses with better linkages to markets, Traidcraft Exchange helps small farmers adapt to climate change and contribute to food security through improved productivity and serving local markets. They also campaign for more ethical business practices and to change unfair trade regulations that make it harder for the poorest to thrive. See you there!
Tunbridge Wells, Saturday 12th April
featuring Carl Beech from Christian Vision for Men (CVM)
and internationally renowned worship leader, Graham Kendrick.
Decades ago Billy Graham was asked the question ‘what are the key struggles that men face?’, he replied ‘Money, Sex and Power’. He was asked the same question recently, his reply was the same. On this day Carl Beech will lift the lid on these key battleground areas and give practical tools to live a life that honours Jesus in the daily mix of work, family and leisure time.
The Conference begins with registration at TW Christian Fellowship, Hanover Road, TN1 1EY at 3pm and will feature 2 seminars by Carl Beech. This will be followed by an evening meal at TW Baptist Church, a 5 minute walk, on Upper Grosvenor Road, TN1 2EP, followed by the Evening Celebration at 7.30pm with Graham Kendrick leading worship and Carl Beech speaking again. Cost for all of this is the amazingly low price of only £10.
Tickets for the Evening Celebration only are also available at an incredibly low price of £7.50 per ticket.
Tickets are available at www.cvm.org.uk directly or Contact Charlie to express an interest in Joining a group from BGBC

Syrian Refugee Crisis – You will have read in the December Mission Update of the serious situation in the Lebanon and the numerous number of Syrian refugees who are flooding in over the border. In December we learnt that Arthur and Louise Brown, working with the Hadath Baptist Church, are seeking to assist these refugees in three ways:
- The provision of food or food vouchers and basic medical supplies to 80 families;
- The launching of a Learning Support Project for refugee children, led by Louise, and
- The welcoming into the church family over 100 refugees for Sunday worship.
Since December the Learning Support Project has been expanded with another class for class 7 & 8 students.
On Sunday the 2nd February next there will be a special offering to support this urgent need. Special envelopes including Gift Aid envelopes will be available.
Please give generously
25 January – 2 February
Poverty & Homelessness Action Week has been running each year since 2008. It brings together two special Sundays which have been marked in UK churches for many years: Homelessness Sunday and Poverty Action Sunday. The theme for 2014 is ‘Standing with people in crisis – give, act, pray’, more information and resources are available from the Action Week website.
With two outstanding speakers, Reona Joly and Pat Took, leading our weekend plus a wonderful conference centre with beautiful grounds in East Sussex, why not get away from it all and join us 21-23 March to recharge your spiritual batteries and have something to look forward to during the winter months? We know times are hard but sometimes, girls, like the ads, we are worth it!
The cost? £160 residential, payable £80 on booking and the remainder by 28 February.
We still have a number of single rooms available, if you can only get away for the day, join us for Saturday only for £30 to include lunch and refreshments.
If you would like to go but feel that the cost makes it prohibitive, then please speak to either Charlie Ingram or Neil Hudson in confidence as we would hate that to be the reason for you missing what should be an excellent weekend.
