All our latest news…
We are delighted to announce that Matt will be joining us again at BGBC for our Afternoon Service on 26th November where he will talking about ‘Faith in Sport’.
Matt has for the past 8 years been the Pastoral Support Director in English Football, which is supported by the Premier League, Professional Footballers Association and the English Football League. He is also the Club Chaplain at Charlton Athletic FC.
Please join us to hear about his work, and find out more about the role of faith in sport and how sport can help your Christian life.
See you there!
Charlie’s sermon from Sunday 9th July 2017 on prayer is now on-line,
you can listen again here: Why Pray?
Prayer is not about a Transaction
Prayer is not about Technique
Prayer is about our Dependence on God
Prayer is about our Relationship with God
Prayer is about our Awareness of God
As part of the talk Charlie mentioned some websites, here are the links:
We are thrilled to have Andy with us and look forward to welcoming him formally at his Induction Service. Please do join us for this special occasion followed by our Summer Bring and Share Lunch BBQ!
The première performance of a brand new choral work, an exciting new Franco-British project on the text of the Te Deum, a beautiful and powerful ancient hymn combining praise of God with recognition of our human frailty. Composed for two choirs and a vocal quartet juxtaposing classical, jazz and gospel modes, featuring the award-winning Bath Camerata, two outstanding jazz-gospel vocal quartets, piano, percussion, double-bass and sax. Once a teacher at Sevenoaks School, John now lives and works in Paris: one of the vocal groups will be bringing a French touch to the evening. Come and experience a unique concert of seamlessly connected musical diversity.
The long-term aim is to take this modern setting of the text to cultural venues, rather than churches, in France and possibly also occasionally the UK, venues in which a straight ‘evangelistic’ concert would never be programmed, reaching a different audience with a text that speaks to our time across the centuries. Please encourage them by coming along! If you don’t like classical music, there’s gospel and jazz, if you don’t like any of them do consider supporting the event anyway – it will be a unique experience.
Don’t worry, all sections of the text WILL be sung in English at some point in each song! Tickets will be available nearer the time from the Stag, from St Nick’s and also directly at BGBC. Price is £15, £12 concessions.

Going Live will, once again, be having a fabulous time at the Big Church Day Out, at Wiston House, West Sussex.
‘The Big Church Day Out is one of the UK’s largest annual Christian events that draws together all ages, from all denominations, for two action-packed days of fun, fellowship, music & worship. It reaches out to both those inside and outside the church, and has fast become one of the UK’s largest low-key evangelistic events.’
The cost of the day is £40 if you’re 16 or under and £50 if you’re 17 or older. This may seem like a lot for a 1 day event but its actually great value for money when you consider how much is on offer and the quality of the music.
Please complete the booking form and give to Josh; there are limited spaces (15 spaces). The event is aimed at families so is appropriate for all ages but for our trip you will have to be in year 7 to come.
Food and spending money
Sadly food is not included in the price; I suggest bringing a packed lunch and around £5 to buy some dinner (or a packed dinner too). You may also want to bring some spending money as there is a lot on offer at the event.
We will be travelling in the Church minibus
We will be leaving from Church on the Sunday at around 10:30am (so at some point during the service). It’s really hard to say when we will be back but it will be late! It can take a long time to leave the site as thousands of people all leave at the same time; I’ve never made it back before midnight! I will get the young people to ring ahead when we’re close by.
