Art Club

A tutored morning is held every Friday in term-time in the church hall from 10.00 to 12.30.

Some experience in painting and drawing is useful as we tend to assume the ‘basics’.

We follow a prepared selection of subject matter with a range of materials.  Often a morning begins with a demonstration and brief talk, with opportunity for questions.  We meet in a large, well-lit hall to a background of music as we paint. Refreshments are available throughout the morning.

Sometimes we put up a ‘show-and-tell’ of work at the end of the session for encouragement or advice.

Fees are currently £100 for a term of around 13 weeks, or newcomers can pay £10 per session for the first term or part-term.  Members bring their own equipment and materials.

The club has a strong tradition of welcoming newcomers and socialising generally.  Membership is high and there can be no guarantee of space available.

Saturday Watercolour Workshop

The Saturday Watercolour Workshop is a monthly, term-time workshop for new and experienced artists to explore the medium of watercolour painting. Starting with a cuppa at 9.30am, the workshop will run from 9.45am to 12.30pm. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning.

The club is for all abilities, though some experience in painting and drawing would be helpful but definitely not essential. Members are welcome to bring their own equipment and materials, but basic watercolour painting materials will be available for use during the workshop sessions, so if this is a new venture for you, you can freely explore the medium before committing to buying your own.

We will be joined by various experienced tutors who will explore how to create watercolours of a wide and varied range of subjects and topics throughout the year. The tutor will begin with a demonstration and be available for help and advice throughout the morning. A termly programme will outline the upcoming term's topics and tutor.

Membership has been very popular, and therefore, with limited spaces, we cannot guarantee that one will be available.

It will be a 'pay as you go' arrangement with a fee of £10 per member/per session (cash, please, no cheques, thank you).
