Looking for a church that feels like family?

You've found it at Bessels Green Baptist Church!

We hope to meet the needs of all age groups through the many activities that run here weekly.

We have two worship services on Sundays:

  • at 10am (with a crèche, Powerhouse for children and Going Live for young people).

  • at 5pm (for those unable to attend our morning service due to sports or other commitments).

Our vision is:

‘Living like Jesus and sharing him with others as we seek first the Kingdom of God.’

Do have a look at our Vision and Values guide to find out more about who we are and what we do.

Why not come along and check us out and hopefully become a part of our “kingdom” adventure!

Common Questions

  • There is very limited parking directly outside the front of the church. To avoid inconveniencing our neighbours, if possible, please park at Riverhead Infants’ School. Parking can also be found in Woodfields (Chipstead), there is a short walk through from the Southern end straight on to the Green.

If you have little children or are elderly then please feel free to park outside the church.

    Here is a map link.

  • Jeans, shorts, casuals, suit – anything that makes you feel comfortable.

  • Anywhere you like – occasionally seats are reserved for special services (these are marked by a sign at the ends of the rows). Space is always available for wheelchair users (just ask one of the Welcome Team as you arrive).

  • People of all ages regularly attend our church. We are a friendly church so expect someone to say hello! Tea and coffee are served in the hall after both services.

  • Approximately 75 minutes (All-age services, on the fifth Sunday of months with five Sundays, are slightly shorter).

  • Crèche facilities for 0-4 year-olds are available at every morning service, but if you would like your baby/toddler to stay with you during the service, that’s fine.

Powerhouse, for 4 – 11 year-olds, is held in the back hall. For the first part of the morning, the children enjoy teaching, worship, and activities together. Mid-morning, the children split into their various teaching groups (age-specific).

Going Live is for 12-18 year-olds. The group meets on the balcony in the church sanctuary for the first part of the morning service and then heads to the youth room for their own fun, teaching, and games.

  • No, we’re just glad you’re here. There is a collection box at the front of the church if you would like to give to BGBC's work. Please don’t feel obliged to contribute. Many people give by standing order. If you would like to join them, you can find out how to do so here.

  • We have a hearing aid loop and provide printed song sheets..

  • Generally on the 1st and 3rd Sunday mornings of each month the services include Communion, and all are welcome to participate. In these services, bread and (non-alcoholic) wine are served to remember Jesus’ death and resurrection.

  • Yes, there are lots Small Group at BGBC. The best way to find out about small groups is through relationships – get chatting to the people you meet in church on a Sunday. If you’re new, ask which Small Group they go to and go and check it out! But if you do not know anyone yet, we can help you find the right Small Group: please call the church office on (01732) 454921 and speak to Andy about joining a group.

  • Yes. We are pleased to offer live translation during the morning service. Please speak to one of the welcome team for more infomation.
